New Megaproject For NYC - The Empire Station Complex

Planned to be complete by 2038, the Empire Station Complex is a massive new project situated around Penn Station in Manhattan. Bounded by 6th and 9th Avenues and 34th and 31st, it will consist of 8 sites and 10 new skyscrapers including five so called "supertall" skyscrapers. The project aims to contribute to a revitalization of Midtown Manhattan and it ties into New York City's efforts to update its aging transportation infrastructure, including the recently completed Moynihan Train Hall and the planned demolition and rebuilding of the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

The Empire Station Complex has stirred controversy due to insufficient planning as identified by lawmakers, as well as anger from residents of affected neighborhoods who would be forced to move as a result of planned demolition for 50+ buildings around Penn Station.
