"Live Forever" was released as a single in the UK on August 8, 1994. It was the third single from Oasis's debut album, Definitely Maybe, which was released a few weeks later on August 29, 1994.

The song is in G major, but it's slightly sharper than standard tuning due to producer Owen Morris speeding up the tape to add energy. As he put it, “It just felt slow… I sped the whole thing up… Nobody noticed — except maybe Noel.”

The basic chord progression is G–D–Am–C–D, with a G to Em shift in the chorus. After the final chorus, the key changes to A minor. There is a Dsus4 embellishment over the D. The Am chord can also be played as Am7 and the Em as Em7. Check the link for the rhythm videos.

The solo is based on the E pentatonic minor scale during the verse progression and shifts to G pentatonic major over the chorus. Either way, it's the same group of notes—just a different perspective, depending on the context.

While most phrasing is simple and repetitive, bars 48 and 52 feature a tricky sixteenth-note run higher up the neck. In my experience teaching this solo, most players benefit from experimenting with finger placement, slowing it down, and gradually building up speed.
