Critically Misused: Wish

Welcome to Critically Misused, where we discuss misused or underused aspects of Dungeons and Dragons. This episode, we will be covering the spell wish and how best to use it.

Here’s some pointers I didn’t fit into the final video:

1. Wish can also be used to reverse some otherwise permanent fates, such as death by disintegrate spell. Since you aren’t replicating a spell if you cast it this way, you still have a chance of permanently losing wish.
2. With a 33% chance (⅓) of losing wish after each dangerous casting, a spellcaster has three dangerous wishes on average. However, most won’t risk losing such a powerful spell in the first place.
3. My gripes with simulacrum aren’t because it’s overpowered; this whole video is about why that’s ok. I just think it’s just way too low level for its power and versatility. Raising it up to ninth level would be more appropriate.
