The History of Mirkwood | Lord of the Rings Lore | Middle-Earth

The Forest of Mirkwood is one of the oldest Forests in Middle-Earth having existed since the First Age. Colonized by the Elves, it was corrupted by Sauron, and he built the fortress of Dol Guldur and called himself the Necromancer. In this episode we discuss the entire history and characteristics of this great Forest which hosted terrifying creatures like the Giant Spiders, that were said to be the children of Shelob.
