Savage 1911 Review, Opinion and First shots. After months of searching the Sarge finally gets his hands on a Savage 1911 45 ACP. Savage was the runner up in the 1911 Army pistol trials. The government selected the Browning design over the Savage design. Savage has now built their version of the 1911.
