Glazing Pottery with Gold - Experiments with Gold Leaf

Описание к видео Glazing Pottery with Gold - Experiments with Gold Leaf

I try several times to use 24k pure gold leaf in layers to guild pottery. I have never worked with gold leaf before. It isn't easy.

Major takeaways:
1. Gold leaf size (glue) is probably not necessary.
2. Even 24 layers of gold leaf can disappear into your glaze. More is better.
3. Perhaps thicker gold sheet or wire would work better.

Cost of gold leaves: $1.40 each in packs of 25. The last test on the mug handle used 9 sheets, and cost $12.60.

Considering it didn't really work well, using a commercial gold luster glaze is really the more practical and affordable answer if you want a gold finish.

That said, I may do more tests in the future with gold wire. I might also take the remainder of my gold leaves and break them up and mix them into a tiny amount of clear glaze for a final test.

Leave me a comment if you have ever tried something like this.

I hope you enjoy. Please subscribe.
