National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 Key Points:
This video covers a quick view of Key Proposals of National Education Policy NEP 2020. On July 29th, 2020 the Union Cabinet approved a new national education policy NEP

•The new education system aims at bringing in transformation reforms in the education system of schools and higher education.
•Replacing the 34-year old education system is another major move in the direction of strengthening India as a global power.
•HRD Ministry renamed to Ministry of Education to promote the spirit of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.”
•Emphasis on regional language/mother-tongue.
•Board exams will be more application and knowledge-based.
•Vocational education will also be imparted from 6th grade onwards.
•More flexibility in choosing the subjects.
•No distinguishing between science, commerce, and maths.
•Enhance essential learning, practical and critical thinking, and experiential thinking.
10+2 study culture discontinue and new structure of 5+3+3+4 will be followed, subjecting to the respective age group of 3-8, 8-11, 11-14 and 14-18 years.

NATIONAL EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE AND EDUCATION (ECCE) CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK:
The first six of life are critical years for brain development.
The National ECCE Curriculum Frameworks for all children below six years of age is aligned with the Government’s vision of ECCE as spelled out in the National Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Policy.

3-SECTIONS OF NATIONAL ECCE CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK
Section-1: FOUNDATION OF EARLY CARE & LEARNING: It consists of an introduction, vision for an Indian child, rationale & theoretical foundation for ECCE. It has objectives of early childhood education; pedagogical bases & principles.

Section-2:GOALS OF EARLY CARE & LEARNING:It comprises of details of the goals for different domains of development, i.e. physical, language, cognitive, socio-emotional and creative and aesthetic appreciation, to be fostered to ensure holistic development of children under six years.It comprises of suggested developmentally appropriate practices for different age groups.

Section-3:PROGRAMME PLANNING & PRACTICES:focuses on implementation details such as principles of program planning, stages of programme planning, role of parents and caregivers/ECCE teachers, essential play materials and assessment procedure etc.

Section-1: FOUNDATION OF EARLY CARE & LEARNING:
India has a tradition of valuing the early years of a child’s life, and a rich heritage of cultural practices for stimulating development and inculcating “sanskaras” or basic values and social skills in children.
In the past this was delivered primarily within joint families, through traditional child caring practices.
•Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) encompass the inseparable elements of care, health, nutrition, play and early learning within a protective and enabling environment.
•ECCE visualize each child as happy, healthy and confident.
•Unique identity, grounded in their individual strengths and capacities; and with respect for their unique social, linguistic, and cultural heritage and diversity.
•As children grow and learn, they explore, enquire, make discoveries and apply their understanding to become self-regulated lifelong learners.
