Russia has released a shocking video claiming that Ukraine attempted a drone attack on President Vladimir Putin’s residence in the Novgorod region this week.

The footage, shared by the Russian defense ministry on December 31, allegedly shows a downed drone identified as a Chaklun-V model carrying a 6-kg explosive device, which reportedly failed to detonate.

A senior Russian officer, Major-General Alexander Romanenkov, detailed how 91 drones launched from Ukraine’s Sumy and Chernihiv regions were intercepted by Russian air defenses, causing no damage and no casualties.

Kyiv has denied these allegations, stating that Moscow fabricated the incident to disrupt ongoing peace talks and derail international negotiations.

Several Western officials have also expressed skepticism about Russia’s claims, questioning whether the attack actually occurred.

The ministry did not provide clear evidence showing how the drone targeted Putin’s residence, and independent verification of the footage remains unavailable.

The video also features local witnesses, including Igor Bolshakov, who claimed to have seen air defense rockets in action. Ukraine has not responded to requests for comment on the Russian footage.

This development adds to the ongoing tension in the Russia-Ukraine war, raising questions about the conflict’s escalation and the use of drones in targeted attacks.
