WHAT IF a new ICE AGE happens? Everybody freezes to DEATH! | Quarks This is the Ent #5

Ice Age! No, not the movie franchise with the nice saber-toothed tiger, I’m talking about a real ice age. The kind of ice age that can be described as a long period of decrease in temperatures on Earth, which results in the expansion of ice sheets and glaciers.

It’s getting cold my dudes! You see, we should be getting into an ice age as we speak but you guys ruined that because you just had to burn fossil fuels! Typical human behavior.

Anyway, just for fun I asked my amazing supercomputer, also known as SC, to calculate what would happen if a new ice age started.
The first consequence would be a worldwide average drop of 5°C causing ice sheets to grow from Earth’s poles reaching Australia and Patagonia. In the north, entire countries would be covered by ice sheets, agricultural land would be lost and cause mass immigration from the global north to the global south. And the more ice will cover land the more sunlight will reflect, making the world even colder and colder and colder! This will be your end!
