He owned a mine in the Congo that produced uranium, which the Nazis desperately wanted. However, Senger had a gut feeling that the Nazis were up to no good and refused to sell them the uranium. Instead, he quietly shipped 1,200 tons of uranium ore to the United States, where it was used for the Manhattan Project. Senger's foresight and actions prevented the Nazis from obtaining the materials needed to build the bomb.
