Chicago Lakefront Trail - An 18-mile paved path that follows the Lake Michigan shoreline on Chicago's eastern edge. This is an awesome bike path that is a great alternative to finding car parking in the city. The trail provides beautiful views of the lake and city - making access to the city much more convenient
Navy Pier - A free thing to do in Chicago if you can avoid paying for parking (which was $18/hour when we were there so we opted to ride our bikes there). The Navy Pier in one of Chicago's top attractions and has free public events, restaurants, shopping, rides, and great views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline.
Monroe Harbor - Right along downtown Chicago, this area offers beautiful views of the lake and boats
Millennium Park - This park is a must see when visiting the Windy City, one of the best free things to do in Chicago - with beautiful gardens, views of the Chicago skyline, and public art.
Cloud Gate (The Bean)
Giordano's Pizza (Chicago Deep Dish Pizza) - What food is Chicago most famous for? Deep-dish pizza! We decided to go in search of the best deep dish Chicago-style stuffed pizza and decided to try Giordano's near Millennium Park. It did not disappoint - loaded with lots of cheese, chunky tomato sauce, and a soft, flaky crust.
DuSable Bridge & Chicago Riverwalk - One of the best things to do for free in Chicago
Lincoln Park Zoo - Lincoln Park Zoo is dedicated to connecting people with nature by providing a free, family-oriented wildlife experience in the heart of Chicago and by advancing the highest quality of animal care, education, science, and conservation. We love that you can visit this park for free and we enjoyed seeing the grey seals and harbor seals from the underwater viewing area and the exotic birds in the McCormick Bird House. We were limited on time and were disappointed to not get to see the giraffe or penguins.
