Tynan McGee performs "Variations on the Carnival of Venice" by Jean-Baptiste Arban, revised for slide trombone by Bob McChesney, accompanied by Laurie Ketron. This performance received first place in the trombone category at the Washington Music Educators Association (WMEA) state Solo and Ensemble Contest on Saturday, April 28th, 2018.

This is not the entire version of the song, I had to cut it down quite a bit as they will cut you off if you play for more than eight minutes. Notable cuts are every piano interlude (there should be one between every other variation) and the theme, which is normally played between the intro and variation 1.

This was my final solo at the state solo and ensemble contest, as it was my senior year. If you are watching as a future soloist at the contest, good luck! My only advice is to not play this song. There are numerous other, much easier and better sounding songs than this one. Other solos that I have played include the Morceau Symphonique, Antande et Allegro, the Sulek Sonata, and Ballade by Bozza.

Variations on the Carnival of Venice is in the public domain. I don't think I'm breaking any laws by uploading this. If I am, then I'll take it down.
