Shakespeare's Richard the GHOUL: A Wasteland Western in Fallout 76

Welcome to the Wasteland Theatre Company’s latest production, performed live in Fallout 76! A Western themed adaptation of Shakespeare's Richard the III set in the territory of the New California Republic--this play unfolds in the Settlement of Filly, where Wasteland Cowboys, Vault Dwellers, and Brotherhood clash. Our story begins with Richard, a ghoul character inspired by Walton Goggins, Laurence Olivier, and Hancock, violently asserting his dominance. This sets the stage for a tale of ambition, betrayal, and power struggles reminiscent of Shakespeare’s greatest works with references to the Fallout TV show, Fallout New Vegas, and Fallout 4 throughout.

Richard the Ghoul’s ruthless quest to become “The King” drives the narrative forward, as he manipulates, deceives, and eliminates anyone who stands in his way. From framing his brother Clarence George to marrying the grieving Anne, Richard’s machinations embody the dark themes of Shakespearean tragedy. The play’s rich tapestry of characters, including the prophetic Mama Margaret and the scheming Buckingham, adds depth and intrigue, making this a must-watch for fans of both Fallout and classic theatre.

As the Brotherhood of Steel mobilizes against Richard’s reign, the play reaches its dramatic climax with a battle that will determine the fate of the Settlement. Haunted by the ghosts of his victims, Richard’s downfall is both inevitable and poignant.
