Northeast Ohio weather forecast: Tracking rain this evening

Your 6 p.m. Northeast Ohio weather forecast for Jan. 25, 2024: If it feels like you've been in a fog this week, you're not alone. In fact, Dense Fog Advisories are in effect for nearly the entire half of the United States from North Dakota to Ohio and all the way to the Gulf Coast! This is the product of warm, moist air flowing over a recent frozen ground for many locations. It's also the product of our low sun-angle this time of year. Incredible!

We also have another round of rain coming our way today as an area of low pressure gets going and rolls through northern Ohio tonight into early Friday morning. Expect rain to move in later today and last through tonight before winding down Friday morning. We could see some brief, gusty winds from this low pressure as well tonight into the morning before winds back off Friday afternoon.

In terms of temps, this fog and moisture-rich environment will cause temps to remain steady in the upper 40s and low 50s today and into tonight before we scale back through the 40s Friday.

Looking ahead, cooler air makes a return to our forecast with a few storm systems to watch in the extended. The first arrives Saturday night into Sunday with some rain that mixes with wet snow on Sunday. A series of weak clipper systems will move in next week reinforcing our cooler air (30s) and bringing brief chances of some rain and snow. No major systems are expected, more-so nuisance winter weather over the next 7 days.
