Walnut & Wenge sideboard

Thrilled with how this Walnut & Wenge sideboard turned out! A hand-cut marquetry silhouette created with Wenge on rift-sawn Walnut door panels...a challenge but now that it's complete...it looks quite simple! There's also two secret latches...activated with a magnetic key that releases the drawers to access the secret stash areas! This was a super fun build and I'm grateful to my wonderful client, Kathy Jo for the opportunity and her trust in me!

Marquetry: The art of creating patterns or motifs utilizing sawn veneers...then piecing them together and finally overlaying the final assembly onto a substrate.

Inlay: The process of creating a cavity or recess...and as the name implies...inlaying or insetting a contrasting piece of wood to create a decoration or pattern.
