UPDATE: A post to Sandra Lee's Facebook page at about 8:20 p.m. reports that the food network star is out of surgery and resting in post-op. Gov. Cuomo remains with her in the recovery room as her anesthesia subsides, though she insisted that he have some dinner.

"Team Sandra Lee" reports she'll return to her hospital room from post-op, and they will update on how things go overnight.

It was a stunning announcement and strong message when Sandra Lee spoke about her breast cancer diagnosis earlier this year. She urged other women to get screened. Shortly after, Lee had a double mastectomy. The focus was back on Lee Tuesday as she underwent another round of surgery.

Her team posted on Facebook last week that Lee had been in the hospital trying to fight off an infection and was on heavy antibiotics.

Lee herself posted on Facebook Monday, that she did everything she could to avoid surgery but "infection is an incredible monster."

According to the CDC, 1% to 3% percent of patients who have surgery develop a surgical site infection. Most can be treated by antibiotics, some require another surgery.

We don't know much about the infection she is battling. But Lee has made her struggle very public, in the hopes she could help others going through a similar struggle.

In addition to doctors, there are a number of support resources for those diagnosed with breast cancer in the Capital Region.
