Altered Beast: Guardian of the Realms (Game Boy Advance) [2002] Longplay | No Commentary
Today I finished the game 'Altered Beast: Guardian of the Realms' for the Game Boy. I decided to do this because I had heard a lot about this game series and was curious to try them. It is a brisk beat-em-up with a plot partly based on Ancient Greek mythology.
The main feature of the Altered Beast games is that the player character changes appearance many times. By collecting Orbs of Essence, our protagonist first becomes stronger and stronger, and then takes the form of some monster: a humanoid wolf, a scorpion, a shark, and many others. Some of these transformations really feel very powerful, so that at least against ordinary enemies, they become invincible. Others, despite their impressive appearance, are hardly stronger than a human.
It was fun to play. And closer to the end, it was quite difficult. I think I will try other versions of this game on other consoles sometime.
