Several European countries held key elections in 2025 revealing a shift across the continent as far right parties made gains in countries including Germany and Portugal with the rise of the Alice Weidel's AfD and Chega led by Andre Ventura.

In Moldova, voters made a choice between a pro-Russian or a pro-EU government while Poland's Presidential election delivered a shock surprise with pro-Trump candidate Karol Nawrocki winning over the liberal Warsaw mayor.

In both of these elections allegations of Russian interference marred the lead up to polling day. The influence of Trump and the United States was also felt in the German elections with Elon Musk publicly advocating for Alice Weidel.

Roundtable went on the road for some of the elections to gage the mood on the ground and how much of a political shift Europe has faced in 2025.
