Q). I was wondering if you could record a video lesson on how to go about playing through the two octave major and minor scales, (but using slow alternate picking please)? I want to learn the best fingering positioning on these scales - the correct way, (if such a thing exists). Thanks!

A). Practicing guitar scale patterns, of any type, (major or minor), are critical for both guitar technique and fingerboard knowledge. Learning scale patterns will not only help develop many areas of your guitar playing, but the they are important for improvisation, and for ear training, as well as, overall ear development. The better that you know the guitar neck scale patterns, the better guitar player you will become over time. In this lesson, I will focus on alternate picking the 2-octave major & minor scales. Once these shapes are memorized up to a good level of playing skill, you'll be able to apply them to any key, anywhere on the guitar's fingerboard. Enjoy the lesson.
