U-Boats Attack off the US Coast | WWII: Hell Under The Sea | National Geographic UK

In the first half of 1942, the German navy were using long-range boats for a surprise attack on the US coast called Paukenschlag, which means ‘Drumbeat.’ The submarine U-103 was part of this operation and captained by Kapitänleutnant Werner Winter. Patrolling near Cuba, U-103 sinks nine ships in just 23 days.
