Build a DIY Electric Cajon: Unlock an Amazing Percussion Sound

So I saw a friend playing a cajon at a gig. I thought it was pretty cool and unique, but I couldn't quite hear it well enough over the other instruments.
So I thought that being an experienced musical instrument maker.. (having made one other instrument before!) I'd have a go at this project!
And I have to say, the audio on the video did not do it justice. It far outdid our expectations and sounded awesome and unique. The mic picked up the different sounds from all sides of the cajon, unlike a traditional one which doesn't.
