Lu raises is an accessory exercise that involves moving the shoulder in frontal and transverse planes, thus targeting lateral and posterior deltoid as well as deep shoulder muscles.
It is an injury prevention/rehabilitation exercise since it is aimed at strengthening the weaker shoulder muscles and therefore reducing the risk of impingement caused by muscle imbalances.

Stand hip width apart with knees slightly bent and hold plates in front of you so that the palms of your hands are facing each other.
Bend at the waist slightly.
Pull the plates sideways and up in a following manner:
1. Rotate them internally until they’re parallel to the floor
2. Rotate them externall yuntil they’re facing each other
3. Rotate them internally back to starting position
