Apes, tapirs, classical music, mysterious monolith, arrogant AI, trippy star gate, higher dimensional beings, so many things happening in this movie!

2001: A Space Odyssey is one of a kind. I don't know what else to say except, "I've never seen anything quite like it!"

I believe a majority of the effort went into the visual effects and building the massive sets to shoot the movie. One thing for sure, the technology shown in this movie was ahead of it's time, and it still is (in some ways)!
