After a high-level White House meeting with Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Denmark’s foreign minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen confirmed that no compromise has been reached on Greenland.

Rasmussen acknowledged that US officials remain committed to acquiring Greenland, but stressed that Denmark and Greenland have clear red lines on sovereignty. While both sides failed to bridge their differences, they agreed to continue talks at a senior level.

The meeting, described as “frank but constructive,” underscores growing geopolitical tensions over Greenland’s strategic Arctic position, as Washington increases pressure amid rising global competition in the region.

With Trump’s rhetoric intensifying and Denmark rejecting any transfer of control, Greenland is fast becoming a focal point in the new Arctic power struggle.
