Loki season 2, episode 4 ends on a massive cliffhanger. This opens up the show to any possibilities. One of the ongoing theories suggests that the God of Mischief will eventually replace Kang the Conqueror as the ruler of the multiverse, which is an interesting story arc for someone like Loki. It's worth noting that despite learning of what would have been his life in the Sacred Timeline had he not been arrested by the TVA, he was coming off from his failed plan to take over Earth in The Avengers.
All things considered, it shouldn't be a shock that the events of Loki season 2, particularly its ending will be setting up the Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. From a storytelling perspective, Marvel Studios needed to put much of the burden of laying the groundwork for the Destin Cretton-directed film on the Disney+ series after Kang the Conqueror's disappointing outing in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Loki is also the only show that has consistently tackled the multiverse, which is the core theme of the Multiverse Saga.
