The theme of “Belt and Road Initiative – The New Asian Model of Sustainability” will discuss and explore a new sustainable development model along the Belt and Road initiative.

While Belt and Road Initiative is no longer just a slogan, where are the opportunities?

The Belt and Road Initiative is launched by the Chinese government for Chinese companies to look Westwards, and forge new trade ties. This is against the backdrop of many nations taking a more isolationist stance, enacting protectionist practices while the positive aspects of globalization are being questioned. However, this bold movement is welcomed by many as it helps to deepen collaboration among the highly populated and fast-growing countries, from Asia to Europe.

Following the Beijing major G2G conference on Belt and Road Initiative in May this year, GGEF will be gathering business leaders, particularly from the sustainable technology and cleantech industries to discuss how to benefit from the many opportunities and challenges.

The conference consists of welcome remarks by our guests of honour, followed by two plenary sessions focusing on technology and finance relating to sustainable development.

As part of the aim to ensure that practical action came from the conference, the closing session ‘Pitch4Green’ gave SMEs in cleantech and sustainable technology industry (with a minimum of 3 years operation experience) the opportunity to present their fundraising project to investors.
