Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this portable 50-amp Gen II Power Watchdog surge protector with Bluetooth and wifi. Now this is a 50-amp surge protector. This will prevent damage to your RV from power spikes and sustained high or low voltage. The surge protection module, which is on the inside here, offers 4,600 joules of protection in case of lightning strike. And what's nice about that module, it can be replaced once it wears out.
So there's no need to have to replace your whole entire unit. Now they do offer a free smartphone app for iOS or Android, which will connect via the built-in Bluetooth and wifi, to let you monitor your system and turn it on or off as needed. And the nice thing about it is they make it very easy to pair this with your device. Basically this QR code right here, all you have to do is scan this QR code and it'll pair up with the device you wanna use it on. It'll monitor volts, amps, watts in real-time to keep an eye on your power draw.
And you'll get push notifications when the voltage is outside of acceptable customizable ranges. They offer easy-to-see indicators that'll show you if there's a problem and what that problem is. Basically this logo here, if you notice this Watchdog logo, it'll actually illuminate white if the power is steady, and then it'll illuminate red if there's an error. And then it'll post an error code right down here on an LED display. And then what you can do when you see that error code, all you have to do is go to the side of this box here and they have a legend written on it that'll show you what each error code means.
So you can compare it to that legend to see what the problem might be. And also what's nice is these lights on here can be dimmed via your mobile app. They do offer a fault history, which can record up to 10 faults. The timestamp will provide detail information on the shutdowns. Now the housing itself is IP65 rated for weatherproof protection against dust and rain.
The metal bracket, you can see right up here at the top around the cord, this'll provide a nice secure place to attach a cable lock. And the other nice thing about this, it's a side-entry receptacle, and the cover, well, it'll help relieve stress on your receptacle connection. So when you go to plug it in, let me show you. You just pop open this, (door clangs) see how this hinge door opens And then if you look, there's your receptacle right there. Pop off your cap, (cap clangs) and then you plug it in right there. So, basically, when this is plugged in like this, it gives you a nice side entry so it doesn't put any stress on your connection. And, also, it's nice if I turn it up to the top, you see that little white dot That's actually a light that with the bay in there where it includes that integrated light that can turn on it for nighttime visibility to make your connection. And then when you're not using it just, and you can see the bottom has the cutouts for your cord to go down through, put the cap back on it. Close this up. It is a clamshell bay door. And what's nice, it has a ring right here. So you can see when you close it, it'll line up with the ring here. And it's big enough to put a padlock through there to add an extra layer of security, prevent tampering alongside your standard lock ring up here we just mentioned on the cable. A few specs on this. The amps is 50 amps, maximum watts is 12,000 watts, and the energy dissipation is 4,600 joules. But that should do it for a look at this portable 50-amp Gen II Power Watchdog surge protector with Bluetooth and wifi.
