In this video, crowds of people visit the University of Washington (UW) Seattle campus on this Sunday afternoon to view the cherry blossoms in the Liberal Arts Quadrangle (aka "The Quad"). This walk starts at UW’s Central Plaza (commonly referred to as “Red Square”) with views of the Statue of George Washington, Odegaard Undergraduate Library, and Suzzallo Library. The highlight of this walk is at The Quad, where there are 29 Yoshino cherry trees that are close to reaching full bloom. Hundreds of people were there enjoying the cherry blossoms and this picturesque setting.
Each year, the cherry trees usually reach peak bloom (i.e., when at least 70% of the blossoms have opened) around the third week of March. However, depending on the weather, the cherry trees can blossom between mid-March to early April. This video was recorded on Sunday, March 20, 2022 (i.e., the first day of Spring 2022), and the cherry trees were close to reaching peak bloom. The cherry blossoms only last for a couple of weeks, so they will be gone by early April.
