In an experiment, 6-month-old babies looked at two objects: one blue and one red .
Repeatedly, an adult picked the blue one many times.

Suddenly, the adult picked the red one.

The babies opened their eyes wide and breathed faster. They noticed a discrepancy and were interested.

We are deeply wired to recognize discrepancies since few are born.

So, if you want to get your audience's attention, show them something they don’t expect:

something new, funny, counterintuitive, or out of place, especially at the beginning.

Remember: “What's good, if new, is twice as good.“
