The Punjab government and the private sector have reached an agreement to purchase wheat from farmers at Rs. 3,500 per 40kg (per maund).

Chairing a high-level meeting on wheat cultivation, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized that farmers are “our brothers” and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the agricultural community.

During the meeting, the Agriculture Department gave a detailed briefing, confirming that a comprehensive procurement plan for next year’s wheat crop has been prepared. Officials assured that Punjab has sufficient wheat reserves and there is no shortage in the province.

Maryam Nawaz further highlighted that, for the first time in Pakistan’s history, 1,000 tractors have been distributed free of cost among farmers. She added that all fertilizers are available in abundance at controlled prices across Punjab, ensuring affordable access for growers.
