In the aftermath of the Soviet collapse, many new post-Soviet states were born. These suddenly created countries disputed over each other, and instability swept across the post-Soviet states. From central Asia, to East Europe, and especially the Caucasus from the Chechen uprising, to the Russian invasion of Georgia, to the Ngorno-Karabakh dispute. Karabakh is a disputed region that was previously inhabited by Azeris but is today an Armenian majority area. In the early 90s, Armenia and Azerbaijan fought a bloody war full of genocide, mass deportations and ethnic cleansing over the land. Due to political instability in Baku, Armenia took control of the land, and in 1994 a ceasefire was signed concluding the war, resulting in an Armenian victory, leading to the founding of the Republic of Artsakh, which is not internationally recognized. Baku sees Artsakh as breakaway state and a foreign occupation of Karabakh, which is internationally recognized as Azerbaijani land. In late September 2020, after violent clashes in July and renewed tensions, Azerbaijan launched an offensive into Karabakh with the support of Turkey. #armenia # ajerbaijan war

On November 10, 2020, soon while the Armenian front in Karabakh was nearing collapse, Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to a peace treaty, and Armenia formally surrendered, officially ending the war. Several UN resolutions will be implemented, and Russian peacekeeping forces will be deployed to Karabakh. Armenia will withdraw from most of Karabakh, however they will keep a portion of it. Several corridors will be opened. In the fallout of the Armenian surrender, large scale riots broke out in Yeravan protesting the treaty, and many government buildings were torched, and rebellious NKO soldiers fired a ballistic missile at Baku. #azarbaijan #armenia #turkey #georeport #nogornokarabak #armeniavsazerbaijan
