Newhaven Harbour Level Crossing

Описание к видео Newhaven Harbour Level Crossing

Two Class 313s in Southern livery pass at the main crossing at Newhaven Harbour heading to Newhaven Town and Bishopstone respectively. There are two crossings here, the other one can be heard after this one has closed. The signalbox sits in between the crossings and the crossing closest to the train seems to close second, although the order can change on what the signalman thinks is best. There is no alarm; just two bells that are each in the left-hand barriers. The crossing plant is wooden planks which seems quite dangerous around a third rail based junction, where sparks are common. The extra light on one side is not needed, as the harbour gates are mainly closed most of the time. It is very quiet at this harbour, so quiet that the train's horn from Tide Mills can be heard in the first clip. The train's brakes can be heard in both clips as well as the thundering of wheels over the pointwork leading to the disused Newhaven Marine station, and the station announcements. The building next to the main station entrance has been demolished, and the area around is pretty abandoned looking and run down as most harbours are these days. Bloody council.
