Baofeng BF-888S 41 km UHF QSO via RU0 Stip ENG titles

Описание к видео Baofeng BF-888S 41 km UHF QSO via RU0 Stip ENG titles

This is communication with two cheap Baofeng BF-888S radios via Local Coverage UHF Repeater RU0, which is located about 41 km from location where I was when this video was filmed. The sound is loud and clear!
The BF-888S has about 1.5 watts on High Power, and about 0.6 watt on Low Power.

The repeater is homemade with two Motorola GM-340 transceivers. It is UHF Local repeater mounted on the roof of my house, in the City of Shtip (Macedonia) with 5W RF output power and homemade vertical dipole antenna.

The "discovery" in this video is not sensational for sure. This is clear to everyone, who has at least a little understanding of radio engineering. Despite this, there are many new (but also old) radio enthusiasts who claim that cheap Chinese radio stations do not have the power to make long distance radio communication and the distance can be up to 5 km in the best case.
Apart from them, there are also clever merchants of expensive radio-equipment who try to convince the young radio-enthusiasts that only the expensive transceivers are good, and the cheap ones are for noting.
With this video I want to assure the young amateur radio enthusiasts and beginners in our hobby, that they do not need big amount of money to become radio amateurs and that they can enter in our interesting and useful hobby with cheap radio equipment also.
This is exactly the video for such beginners, my friends.

For the experiment, I took of the output transistor of the Baofeng BF-888S, connect 1nF capacitor between base and collector on the PCB in the place of removed transistor and get 40 mW RF output power with driver stage only. With that RF power of only 40 mW, I could communicate via local repeater from many different places in the City in about 2 to 3 km radius from repeater! :-)
