Welcome to our 7th episode of 'Bharat Darshan' series. In this series we talk about several Indian States and Union Territories. Today it's turn for an Indian State, #Tripura.

Tripura is a state in #NortheastIndia. The 3rd smallest state in the country, bordered by Bangladesh to the North, South and West and the Indian state of Assam and Mizoram to the East.

According to 2011 census Tripura is one of the most literate states in India with a literacy rate of 87.75%. Bengalis represented almost 70% of Tripura's population while the Tripuri population amounted to 30%. The state's schedule tribes recognized by the country's constitution, consists of 19 ethnic groups and sub groups with diverse language and culture. The largest such group was the Kokborok speaking Tripuries.

The Sanskrit name of the state is linked to the Hindu goddess of beauty, #TripuraSundari,
the presiding deity of the Tripura sundari temple at Udaipur, one of 51 Shakti peethas of Hindu culture.

One of the top tourists attraction in Tripura are it's heritage sites. The foremost among these is the Ujjayanta Palace, Neermohol Palace, Kunjobon Palace, Unakoti Rock Carvings, Rudrasagar Lake, Tripura sundari temple etc. To know more about this beautiful state, please watch this episode till the end.
