Advisor Live Webinar: USP Compounding Standards Updates Summary and Impact

Описание к видео Advisor Live Webinar: USP Compounding Standards Updates Summary and Impact

On June 1, 2019, the United State Pharmacopeia (USP) released final documents for several regulations regarding compounded medications. USP 795 describes the minimum standards for preparing non-sterile medications in pharmacies, hospitals, physician offices and other healthcare settings. USP 797 applies to all persons who prepare compounded sterile products (CSPs) including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, physicians and nurses at all places where CSPs are prepared. Released in 2016 and harmonized with USP 795 and USP 797, USP 800 outlines the practice and quality standards for safe handling of hazardous drugs in healthcare settings. This applies to nearly all aspects of the medication process including receiving, storage, dispensing, administration and disposal.

The official date for implementation of all three USP compounding standards is Dec. 1, 2019. Many healthcare organizations have been working towards compliance with the existing USP standards but have been waiting for the final publication to make final decisions. During this Advisor Live webinar, Annie Lambert (Director, Performance Partners) and Chris Jones (Director, Pharmacy Automation & Technology) will:

- Provide a summary of the final USP 795 and USP 797 rules
- Describe the potential impacts on health care organizations
- Share resources available to move toward compliance
