Zurück in die Zukunft Teil I bei CLAAS:
Im Jahr 1970 zeigte CLAAS auf der 51. DLG-Ausstellung in Köln dem Messepublikum eine Mähdrescher-Projektstudie, die eine vollkommen andere Gestalt hatte, als die bisherigen Mähdrescher von CLAAS. Auffallend waren vor allem die sehr runden, futuristischen Formen. Die Ingenieure hatten sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, das Tunnelprofil der Eisenbahn mit möglichst viel Mähdrescher zu füllen. Bemerkenswert war der Korntank, der sich als Satteltank auf beiden Seiten der Maschine aufteilte.
Diese Mähdrescher-Form wurde so nie in Serie gefertigt. Stattdessen stellte CLAAS zum Verkaufsjahr 1970/71 den DOMINATOR 80 als erstes Modell der erfolgreichen DOMINATOR Baureihe vor.

In 1970, CLAAS presented a project study of a combine harvester to the visiting audience of the DLG trade fair in Cologne, Germany. The combine harvester had a completely different form than previous machines from CLAAS with strikingly futuristic and round shapes. The goal of the engineers involved in the study was to fill up the shape of a rail tunnel with as much combine harvester as possible. One of the remarkable things about this combine harvester was the grain tank which was devided into a saddle tank on both sides of the machine.
This combine harvester never made production. Instead, CLAAS presented the DOMINATOR 80 as the first model of the successful DOMINATOR range in 1970/71.
