ಪಿತೃ ತರ್ಪಣ & ಪಿತೃ ಪಿಂಡ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ವಿಧಿ | MAHALAYA AMAVASYA Pithru Dosha Nivarana -Ep967 25-Sep-2022

Sairam,

Mahalaya Amavasya has its own significance. This day is the "day to remember and be thankful to our ancestors/pitru devate".
"Maha" means huge and "Alaya" means place. Mahalaya comes yearly once.
We are indebted to our grandparents and great grandparents as we are enjoying their earnings, property/assets.
Hence on this auspicious day, we have to give tarpana and take their blessings.

If pinda pradana is not done, in present birth, he will be born with pitru shaapa in horoscope
If Parents are illtreated, then he/she will gain pitru shaapa when parents are alive or will not live with parents.

We should not keep any Runa, especially of parents.

For ancestors, this needs to be done:
Time: Afternoon or the evening
Preparation of Pinda: As in Brahma Purana
1. Sesame (black) - Shani - removes Karma
2. Rice (Anna) - Jeeva karaka - Guru graha
3. Mix both of them
4. Add water so as to prepare a solid dough - Matru kaaraka - Chandra
5. Mix jaggery powder - Shukra - Gives happiness and good fortune.
6. Curd - Surya - Health - Ancestral links
7. Milk (as required) - Budha - runa bhade of maternal uncle is removed.
8. Honey - Rahu and Ketu
9. Ghee - Siblings and relatives runa
Mix these into dough like an egg. While preparing, chant this Pitru Gayatri mantra:

OM PITRUGANAAYA VIDMAHAE
JAGATDHAARINEE DHEEMAHEE
TANNOH PITRUHU PRACHODAYAAT

10. On a banyana leaf or muttukada leaf, on darbe (dry grass), keep these balls for each person
11. Leave these in flowing river or feed the cow or keep it on Vishnu pada.

Procedure for Tila tarpana:
1. Take two tea spoons of Black sesame
2. Put 2 spoons of water
3. Keep a coin along with it.
4. All contents should be put into a plate by holding the thumb downwards (Ardha Chandra mudra - Refer episode)
Mantra: TARPAYAAMI TARPAYAAMI TARPAYAAMI

It is ideal to do both tila tarpana and pinda pradana on Mahalaya Amavasya day.

Take Arati to the tarpana water and to the pinda (balls) saying this mantra:

OM DEVATAABHYASCHA PITRUBHYASCHA
MAHAAYOGIBHYAM EVA CHA
NAMAH SWAAHYAAYAI SWADHAAYAI
NITYAMEVA NAMO NAMAH

Chant 21 times and circumambulate for 21 times.
Now, do Rama nama smarane OM RAAM RAAMAAYA NAMAHA
Bhakti is important

Pinda should also be given to friends who have helped in life.
