It may appear there is a lot of "moving parts" to get effects into monitors! Once you understand what is involved, it makes more sense and does not take much time to setup.

IMPORTANT:
Routing effects (reverb, delay, etc...) to stage monitors (not IEM), is usually not a good idea due to potentially introducing the effect back onto the stage through the stage-monitors. This may cause audio anomalies which could be introduced back into the sound system (FOH) through vocal and/or instrument microphones.
However, if an IEM system is used, effects to monitors will not present any issues.
