The HAL #TejasMWF, or Medium Weight Fighter, is a planned single-engine, delta wing, multirole fighter designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency in collaboration with Aircraft Research and Design Centre of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for the Indian Air Force. 

India needs more than 250 light aircraft – therefore the indigenous LCA TEJAS is the best aircraft that we can manufacture – taking cues from the SAAB. The Mk-II variant will be the ideal aircraft for INDIA – even though we may have to learn from any mistakes – because that is the only way to progress.
IAF may induct 12 LCA Mk2 squadrons (around 200 aircraft). LCA Mk1 is already in squadron service with the Indian Air Force (IAF). The second Tejas squadron, Number 18 Squadron 'Flying Bullets', was operationalised in May. ... 16 LCAs of the first order of 40 have been delivered to the IAF and a new order of 83 Mk.
DRDO's ADA finalised the design of the 17.5 tonTejas Mark II (Mk-II) in December 2018, and is expected to lock in the design of the fifthgeneration twin-engine stealth fighter for Indian Air Force (IAF) by the end of the year.
