2014 Toyota Yaris review - UAE Car Review by Motopedia.ae

Today we're driving the 2014 Toyota Yaris, a modern subcompact car with a 1.5 liter engine that received a major facelift in 2013 and is largely unchanged for 2014.
Yaris's have generally been "Plain Jane" designs, meant for convenience and affordability rather than their looks. The new 2014 model tries to move away from this a little bit by borrowing some styling cues from the new Corolla. While many reviewers find the car quite bland, we think this is the coolest Yaris yet
Yaris's 1.5 liter engine delivers only 108 horsepower, which is low compared to others in this category who put out as much as 130 horse power. What probably saves it is its light weight but what lets it down is its 4 speed transmission which feels veeeerrrry primitive.
The Yaris' interior couldn't be simpler or easier to use. There are just a couple of gauges to read, and the large speedometer is mounted directly in front of the driver rather than in the center of the dashboard. Storage is good, with several well-placed bins, including one ahead and to the left of the driver that neatly holds a wallet or smartphone.
The Yaris is far from the largest car in the segment. Its size makes it maneuverable and easy to park in tight city streets, but rear-seat space suffers as a result. The front seats have plenty of room, and feel comfortable. The contouring and side support of the SE model's "exclusive sport seats" are especially nice.
The Yaris is one of the most popular cars in the UAE and for good reason. It offers value for money, although the Koreans and Americans are beginning to erode that advantage, so Toyota must deliver more in the coming years.
