Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome to another edition of the Android News Byte.
Today, I wanted to highlight news about the next version of Magisk
The application has been updated to version 29.0 and with it comes a TON of underlying changes as they continue working on refactoring the code base.
Sadly, this means there aren't many new features or changes with this version
But it's such a big update that you're going to want to test it on your device as soon as possible.


Magisk 29.0 change log
So as mentioned, the first item mentioned in the changelog for this update is the massive code migration and refactoring the developers have been doing
they don't go into detail here about what was changed or why
but this normally happens to organize the code better. . .optimize the tasks it needs to perform. . .or just getting it ready for a big update that's coming down the line.

if everything goes smoothly, you won't even notice a difference compared to version 28 and version 28.1

they've also set up the Magisk application so it can download module zip files that is currently using XZ compression
and the Magisk app will now disable animations within the app, if you have system animations disabled within the developer mode menu

Magiskmount received some love with this update as well, allowing it to support systemlessly deleting files with modules using blank file nodes
magiskinit had some nice changes as well, with a redesigned process of patching sepolicy and the logic used to inject the code.

and last up, magisksu received a change with version 29.0 of Magisk that offers better TTY/PTY support
which stands for teletype and pseudo teletype
so if you're interacting with Magisk through the terminal or something similar, then this version could make things better for you.

So we aren't seeing major user-facing changes with the update to version 29 of Magisk
and in fact, it's actually introduced a bug for previous versions of the Magisk app
when updating there seems to be a signature mismatch issue that people are currently dealing with

the bug has been reported, and it has been confirmed by the team
we're just waiting for it to be fixed by the developers

but I'm using this version on my galaxy s23 right now and it hasn't had any unexpected issues from a typical install.
so it just seems to be affecting those who want to upgrade
