Telangana Joint Action Committee Kodandaram to float new political party .
Telangana Joint Action Committee chairman M. Kodandaram on Sunday announced the formation of a new party at the extended steering committee meeting of the organisation at Turkayamjal on the outskirts of the city. He was replying to the queries of the members of the committee who sought to know whether T-JAC would foray into the political arena. He said the party would come up in addition to the JAC. However, carrying on struggles under the banner of a party is not to my liking.
Recalling that Telangana idealogue K. Jayashanker was against another party as he wanted supporters of the statehood movement in the past to focus on development of the region, Mr. Kodandaram said the T-JAC was helpless as the government was indifferent to the ambitions of its people. There was no response from the government to people’s wishlist. “How long the T-JAC will carry on struggles on behalf of people without any result?” Therefore, it was decided to launch a party to implement the people’s agenda. They had mounted pressure on the T-JAC to start the party. He said the name and programme of action of the party would be decided in consultation with interested persons. The legal procedures to get the permission of the Election Commission of India for the party were going on.Earlier, the meeting discussed reports submitted by T-JAC representatives in Assembly constituencies about the plight of farmers. It was decided to organise awareness camps in villages and mandal headquarters to sensitise people to the problems facing the sector.
