A major political row has erupted in Andhra Pradesh as former YSR Congress Party MP Nandigam Suresh was arrested in Guntur. The arrest comes after an alleged assault on TDP worker Isakapalli Raju in Uddandarayunipalem village on Saturday night. Police say Suresh, his brother Prabhudas, and others attacked the TDP activist, who is currently receiving treatment at AIIMS, Mangalagiri.

Following a complaint by the victim’s family, police registered a case and arrested Nandigam Suresh on Sunday. He was produced before the Mangalagiri court on Monday and remanded to 14 days judicial custody. Authorities are still on the lookout for his brother and other relatives involved in the incident.
