«Криниця для спраглих» ( A well for the thirsty in eng) - Ukrainian surrealist cinema, debut in cinema by Yuri Ilyenko as director. The film was shot in 1965, but put on the shelf and first shown in 1987.
The film is dedicated to the memory of People's Artist of the USSR Dmitry Milutenko.
Occupies 21 position in the list of the 100 best films in the history of Ukrainian cinema.
This film is a metaphorical, allegorical, symbolic story with many themes, the main of which is the dramatic life of the elderly Levko Serdyuk, a peasant philosopher. The villagers scoff at his concern for the well that supplies water to the whole village, and his descendants, concerned with their own affairs, do not mention their father or their mother's grave.
Immediately after its completion, the film was banned by a resolution of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine.
