The SCO Summit 2025 marked a significant turning point in global geopolitics. Chinese President Xi Jinping introduced a bold proposal for a new global order focused on the Global South, aiming to challenge U.S. dominance and Western-led systems. His vision included the creation of a Development Bank and an AI Cooperation Center under the SCO to strengthen cooperation among emerging economies.

Russian President Vladimir Putin supported the idea, calling it an example of genuine multilateralism and a foundation for a new Eurasian security model. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held several bilateral and multilateral meetings with Xi and Putin, signaling a major shift in India's strategic outreach.

This was Modi’s first official visit to China in seven years, reflecting a potential thaw in India-China ties. Despite ongoing issues like border disputes and trade imbalances, both leaders agreed to work on improving connectivity, direct flights, and cultural exchanges.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump, via Truth Social, claimed that India had offered to eliminate tariffs on American goods—calling it long overdue. This highlighted ongoing Western pressure on India to stay aligned, even as India seeks to maintain its strategic autonomy.

Pakistan received limited attention at the summit, indicating a shift in power dynamics within the SCO. While there were some concerns among member states over China's close relations with Iran, all nations emphasized the need for global governance reforms and stronger multilateral cooperation.

This summit could reshape the global balance of power and marks a strong push toward a multipolar world order led by nations like China, Russia, and India.
