[ OPEN FOR FULL RECIPE + SUBSTITUTES ] This jam is super simple and easy to make! Antioxidants from the berries and omega 3s from the chia make this a much healthier, refined-sugar free option :) Let me know if you try it!

RECIPE:
16oz frozen berries of your choice (I used a cranberry-blueberry mix, but blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries would be great! Strawberries would not be the best option here)
2 tbsp chia seeds

DIRECTIONS:
(1) Pour the frozen berries into a medium sized pot over medium heat
(2) Stir the berries around a bit and allow them to defrost. Mash a few of them to "pop" them and make a more even jam. The berries should release quite a bit of water here and may look more like a soup, but don't worry!
(3) Raise heat to medium-high and bring to boil
(4) Then reduce the heat to low and maintain a simmer, continuing to stir the berries
(4) Add the chia seeds and optional sweetener (see notes) and mix well
(5) Continue to simmer until desired thickness is reached, then remove from heat and let cool
(6) Store in a resealable glass jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks
(7) Serve as desired, but be sure to enjoy ;)

NOTES:
You can substitute fresh berries for frozen, but they will release less water as they heat up, so they may stick to the bottom of the pan. If you try this I would add 1/2 cup of water in with the fresh berries as well.
Unfortunately there is no substitute for the chia seeds, flax seeds taste too strongly and will not work the same way
This jam is a little less sweet than your typical store-bought jam, so depending on the ripeness of your berries, you may want to add 1-2 tbsp of sweetener of your choice (I would suggest maple syrup). You can add this in when you add the chia seeds if you'd like!
