Shaymin, one of the "event" Pokémon of the 4th generation is rather unique in that it can be one of two forms, the Land Forme or the Sky Forme. Each form is different in stats, type and ability. Originally it was thought that like Deoxys in the third generation, the forms would be dependant solely on the game it is in. This however, is now known to be untrue
In Platinum, if you go to Floaroma City at some point in the game, you will be given a new Key Item called the Glacidia's Flower. This Key Item allows you to change Shaymin's Forms easily

Just select the item in the pack and then select Shaymin and boom, it will change. This can be done any number of times so should you want the Land Forme or the Sky Forme, its never hard to change it. However, there are several restrictions upon this. You cannot utilise the Glacidia Flower at night time or while Shaymin is under the Frozen status affliction.

Pokemon Platinum to be released in Japan as Pocket Monsters Platinum (ポケットモンスタープラチナ)

The game will feature Giratina as its mascot and introduce its Origin Forme (オリジンフォルム) Its initial form is referred to as its Another Forme (アナザーフォルム). The new storyline will involve a disturbance atop Mt. Coronet, as a portal to the "Ruined World" (やぶれたせかい) s opened and Sinnoh's climate becomes colder. The trainers have been given new outfits to suit the colder climate.

The legendary Pokémon Shaymin, which will be distributed as part of admitance to the film Giratina to Sora no Hanataba: Shaymin, will also have an alternate form in Platinum, known as its "Sky Forme" (スカイフォルム), a dual Grass and Flying-type Pokémon. When traded from Diamond or Pearl to Platinum, Shaymin will transform from its regular Land Forme (ランドフォルム) into its Sky Forme with the use of a new item in Platinum.

When the special Regigigas that is given out with a pre-order ticket for Giratina to Sora no Hanataba: Shaymin is traded from Diamond or Pearl to Platinum, it activates an event that makes Regice, Regirock, and Registeel available in Platinum.

Pokémon Platinum introduces five new forms of Rotom, accessible by using the Secret Key item to unlock a hidden room within the Galactic Headquarters in Eterna City: Frost form, Wash form, Cut form, Spin form, and Heat form.Each form's appearance corresponds to a household appliance (a refrigerator, a washing machine, a lawn mower, a desk fan, and an oven, respectively), and is able to learn an elemental attack exclusive to itself, which is lost upon conversion to another form, despite that each form retains the Electric/Ghost-type.
