This is the "Directors cut" of our trip through Merry Piglet Slot canyon in North Wash Utah. The canyon was so much fun and we had a great time. We didn't do everything quite right, but made it out. As I was editing this one I thought this might be something that others could benefit from to see the entire canyon process and what Tammy and I do to go through a slot canyon, especially one that does not get a whole lot of attention. It's one you don't hear about very often, and honestly it is one that we don't do and haven't done much. Why this is I don't know. It was about 10-12 years ago that I last did it and Tammy and my usual group hasn't done it. We were out camping in between our Technical Canyoneering courses this spring and decided to do it and see what we have been missing out on. We were pleasantly surprised. The slot canyon was more slotty than I remember and we had a lot of fun. I think that it is one that will generally hold a lot more water than others in the North Wash area so this dissuades some groups from doing this one. We expected water as it had been a wet winter and spring. We went in prepared, or so we thought. Tammy did end up getting pretty chilled and could have done with a better set up on her Neoprene. We talked about that after the fact and what she could have done better. She definitely came away from the trip with some better neoprene ideas, which actually was used in the canyon the day after this trip. Overall, Merry Piglet Slot Canyon was really a gem and one that we certainly want to get back into again and keep on our regular radar on a more consistent basis.
