Large numbers of pygmy cormorants (Microcarbo pygmaeus) gather at the Hula Nature Reserve, one of Israel’s most important wetland ecosystems, managed by the Israel Nature and Parks Authority (INPA). The Hula Valley serves as a critical feeding and roosting site for waterbirds, especially during migration and wintering periods. Pygmy cormorants rely on shallow wetlands and abundant fish resources, making the Hula a key stronghold for the species.
