In this video I visited Besalú, a beautiful medieval town of Girona in Spain (my country of origin); and this time with the company of my beautiful family.

Besalú is a small town located in the Catalonia region of Spain. Despite its size, it boasts an impressive history and is considered one of the most important medieval towns in the country.

One of the most interesting aspects of Besalú is its architecture. The town is home to several notable landmarks, including the impressive Romanesque bridge that spans the Fluvià River, and the 12th-century Monastery of Sant Pere. But perhaps the most iconic feature of Besalú is its medieval Jewish quarter, which has been remarkably well-preserved over the centuries. Visitors can stroll through the narrow streets and admire the ancient stone buildings, many of which still bear the signs of their former Jewish occupants.

Besalú is also known for its rich cultural heritage. The town has a long history of hosting festivals and celebrations, many of which date back centuries. One of the most famous is the annual Fira dels Indians, which takes place in September and commemorates the town's connections with the New World. During the festival, the streets are filled with music, dancing, and street performances, and visitors can sample traditional foods and drinks from the region.

But perhaps the most interesting thing about Besalú is its connection to the legendary Knights Templar. According to local legend, the knights once had a strong presence in the town, and it is said that they built a secret underground passage connecting the Monastery of Sant Pere to the nearby Castle of Besalú. Although the existence of the passage has never been proven, the idea of it has captured the imaginations of visitors and locals alike, and adds a touch of mystery and intrigue to the town's already rich history.

Overall, Besalú is a fascinating destination for anyone interested in history, architecture, and culture. With its stunning landmarks, well-preserved Jewish quarter, and fascinating legends, this medieval town in the heart of Catalonia is sure to leave a lasting impression on visitors from all over the world.

I hope you enjoy the video. Big regards!
